08.05.2009 / Fun Day for a Great Cause.
Despite temps in the 90s, the KETV Back to School Drive at our 132nd and Center branch was a lot of fun and - by collecting about 40,000 items - a huge success! Like we mentioned last week, KETV, The Big O! 101.9 and the Salvation Army joined us to host an event to collect school supplies for students in need.
On Monday, both KETV and The Big O! 101.9 broadcasted throughout the morning and into the afternoon to encourage people to come by. We had so many generous individuals and families stop by on their way to work or while they were running errands to donate supplies. It's nice to see that even while many families are watching what they spend - they still make a place in their budget to help those in need.
Last year, the Drive provided supplies for more than 9,200 students and we're excited to see the amount that will be donated this year! If you missed us Monday and are still interested in donating, you can drop off supplies at any of our metro branches. Or, if you can't make it to a branch, you can send checks to the Salvation Army, at 3612 Cuming St. Omaha, NE 68131.
Did you, or someone you know, stop by to donate? Or, have you or your family been recipients of school supplies from the Back to School Drive in the past? Share your story below!
