06.15.2010 / It is time for the Cox Classic.
As July ends, Omahans get ready for one of the city's most prestigious (and fun) summer sporting events, the Cox Classic. This year, the 14th annual tournament will once again bring in some of the best golfers in the country to Omaha.
First National Bank is a proud sponsor of the Cox Classic not only because it's a fun event for the city, but it has an impact too - raising millions of dollars for local charities. Each year our employees are excited to help out and be a part of the event.
The Cox Classic is one of those "city wide" events that generates excitement all around Omaha - drawing crowds of more than 80,000. Whether it's watching the tournament at Champions Run, bringing the kids to Family Fun Day or stopping by the infamous 19th Hole Party, be sure to take advantage of at least one of the many ways to participate throughout the week. If you're looking for events to attend, the entire schedule is available at coxclassic.com.
There is a pretty impressive line-up of athletes this year, so be sure to tune in and get ready to see the players in the heat of the competition. First National Bank is excited to host the Pro-Am on Wednesday, July 22nd, which will feature several players to watch, including:
Michael Sim - the 24-year old Aussie made it in the top 100 after his strong (and first) U.S. Open performance just four weeks ago. If he has a similar performance this weekend, you can keep track of Sim at the PGA Tour next month. (He's also ranked first for the Cox Classic!)
Kevin Johnson - Another potential PGA Tour contender, he marks his 20th anniversary as a professional golfer. Johnson recently had an impressive round last month when he took a trophy home from the Knoxville Open.
