With football season nearing the halfway point, it is time to plan what you will do afterwards. The answer should be Creighton University basketball. The Creighton basketball team is gearing up for another very successful year, with hopefully another NCAA Tournament bid.

Although many analysts have picked Northern Iowa to win the MVC this year, after a tie with Creighton last year, there is a strong feeling that Creighton can still make a postseason tournament. Creighton lost two of their high-impact players last year, Booker Woodfox and Josh Dotzler; but returns starters Justin Carter, Kenny Lawson Jr. and P’Allen Stinnett. Plus, rumor is that highly-coveted freshman Andrew Bock may have a big impact this year. I’m picking Creighton to beat out Northern Iowa, with Illinois State and Wichita State following.

  • Creighton has made it to the NCAA or NIT tournament every year for the past 12 seasons (7 NCAA tournament bids, 5 NIT trips)
    • Only 11 other schools can claim this: Arizona, Duke, Florida, Gonzaga, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Stanford, and Syracuse.
  • They have won 20 games in each of the past 11 seasons, and 10 conference games in the past 13 seasons.
  • Qwest Center Omaha held the largest crowd ever to watch an MVC basketball game last year with 17,954 fans cheering Creighton on to a win against Wichita state
  • Coach Dana Altman is the winningest coach in Creighton Basketball history with a record of 309-160, 3 MVC regular season titles and 6 MVC tournament titles
  • The Jays are 84-16 while playing inside the Qwest (.840 win percentage)
  • Creighton has ranked in the top 15 nationally in home attendance in the past three years, averaging 15,930 fans per game last season.

Creighton will be tough this year. They'll battle for the MVC Title and hopefully be dancin' in March!

I agree with some of this analysis but where is the love for the new Juco boys? I know it takes them about half a season until they can really thrive under Dana's system but Wayne and Darryl could make a big impact on the court this season.

Doesn't FNB have a similar deal for UNO hockey games too?

First National is not offering any 2 for 1 ticket offers for UNO Hockey. The ticket offer is only good for Creighton basketball games.
