01.19.2010 / Adrenaline levels are high going into the weekend, The Voice of Billy Bluejay
After the last second shot by Antoine Young propelled the Jays to a 71-69 victory over Southern Illinois on Wednesday, the team, coaching staff, (and fans) exited the Qwest Center with a sense of excitement and energy. The bench provided much of the spark needed to lift the Jays to victory. It was a much needed win for the Jays and brings them to .500 (3-3) in the conference - tied for fourth place - and 8-9 overall this season.
All knew that the celebration could not last for long, as the Jays quickly needed to re-focus for Wichita State on Saturday. Wichita State comes into Saturday’s game with a 16-2 record and is second in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 5-1 league mark. WSU won the first meeting against the Jays 70-58 in Wichita on Jan. 9, 2010. This Saturday’s game will give the Jays a chance to chip away at the lead in the MVC - so it is a battle you won't want to miss. The nationally televised game (ESPN2) will tip-off at 4:05 p.m. at the Qwest Center.
Reminder: Fans are encouraged to wear WHITE to the game to help create a "White Out for Wichita!" Cheer loud and GO JAYS!
