05.04.2010 / Spring into Spring at Lauritzen Gardens
Are you looking for something to do over the weekend? Then visit Lauritzen Gardens Spring into Spring Festival. The Festival is Saturday, May 15th and Sunday May 16th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Visitors can spend the weekend choosing from a variety of plants grown and propagated in the Lauritzen Gardens greenhouses since as early as February. Exciting plants to look for include purple hyacinth bean, colorful new varieties of coralbells, the new Younique series of Astilbe, numerous varieties of ornamental grasses as well as hanging plants. These plants can be seen throughout the garden as beds are planted and re-planted during the upcoming seasons.
Local garden clubs, plant societies and environmental organizations will also be sharing information about how to care for plants and help sustain our environment. Some groups will also be selling plants and related merchandise throughout the weekend. Visitors may learn how to become involved in these organizations and how to help the community through gardening and environmentally friendly practices.
So mark you calendars, and escape to an urban oasis of beauty and tranquility and experience the glory of Lauritzen Gardens. You’ll discover a hidden sanctuary in the heart of the city and relax while cultivating your mind in this living plant museum, conveniently located in the beautiful riverfront hills.
