12.12.2011 / Christmas with the Rose Theater!
It is holiday time in Omaha, and for those of us with children, that means trips to the mall to see Santa, driving downtown to look at the holiday lights and a trip to the Rose Theater for one of their holiday productions! This year the Rose Theater is offering two shows to delight local children and their parents with holiday magic. They are:
• Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells (link: www.rosetheater.org/season-tickets/2011-12-season/junie-b-in-jingle-bells-batman-smells/) - It’s Christmas and Junie B. has a dilemma. Her first grade class has drawn for its Secret Santa exchange, and she has picked the name of her least favorite classmate, Tattletale May. With only ten dollars to spend, Junie B. must decide what is more important: protecting May’s feelings or buying herself the coveted Squeez-a-Burb, which is sure to win her the attention of all her classmates. This 2 hour show is best for those ages 6 to adult, and runs from November 25 – December 3, 2011.
• Holiday Time Around the World (link: www.rosetheater.org/season-tickets/2011-12-season/holiday-time-around-the-world/) - When a young inventor unveils his latest invention – a new transporter device – he convinces the audience to travel with him on a mission to discover holiday traditions around the world. In Germany, audiences will participate in the tale of the Christmas spider; followed by the legend of the poinsettia in Mexico. Next, the audience is off to Africa, then Israel, in an audience participation event that will entertain young and old alike. This hour long show is interactive, is best for those ages 5 to adult and runs from December 26 – 30, 2011. It’s the perfect outing for the kids while they are out of school.
Whether you go see Junie B figure out her holiday dilemma or watch holiday traditions from around the world, the Rose Theater’s holiday productions are sure to please!
