06.20.2011 / Highlights from the first weekend of the CWS in Omaha

The College World Series kicked off with four great games this weekend. Here is a recap of all the action!

"The play gets more exciting as the stakes get higher..."
  • Vanderbilt made waves during their first ever College World Series visit, beating out the Tarheels 7 to 3. They move forward to play Florida Monday at 7 pm.  Will they continue with their first-timers luck?
  • The Florida Gators beat the Texas Longhorns, 8 to 4. They play Vanderbilt today, while the Texas Longhorns battle it out with the Tarheels in an elimination game today at 2 pm!
  • Virginia beat the California Golden Bears on Sunday, 4 to 1.
  • Last year’s champions, South Carolina, closely won against Texas A&M on Sunday – 5 to 4! South Carolina meets up with Virginia on Tuesday at 7 pm.
  • Texas A&M may have lost to South Carolina, but they meet up with the California Golden Bears in another elimination round on Tuesday at 2 pm!

The play gets more exciting as the stakes get higher – check back on Wednesday for a review of whose moving on, and who is going home.
