06.22.2011 / It is elimination time at the CWS!
It is elimination time at the College World Series as we get into the latter half of the week, with some teams going strong, and others going home. Both Texas teams, Texas and Texas A&M have already been eliminated and went home.
Florida and South Carolina are undefeated – while the championship is still wide open, these teams are the favorites to meet on the field at the championship series. Who Florida and South Carolina will meet on the way to the championship is not yet determined. There will be two elimination games that will be played on Wednesday and Thursday. The teams up for elimination are:
- Vanderbilt, who has gone far in their first visit to the College World Series, but lagged behind Florida in their game against the Gators on Tuesday.
- Vanderbilt plays North Carolina at 7 on Wednesday – North Carolina won 3 to 0 against Texas in the elimination game on Monday.
- Virginia, who lost 1 to 7 against undefeated against South Carolina on Tuesday, gets one more chance in the elimination game on Thursday.
- Virginia plays California whose 7 to 3 win against Texas A&M sent them home on Tuesday.
On Thursday evening, we’ll have a clear idea of which teams are in the running for the semi-finals this weekend and a good idea of who might be playing in the Championship series on Monday and Tuesday! Whose your favorite of the four teams playing elimination games this week to move forward?
