05.02.2011 / It is time for Cinco de Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo in Omaha does not just happen on May 5th, it goes from the 4th to the 8th of May. First National is proud to sponsor this series of events which provides something for everyone in the family.
Not sure what's going on for Cinco de Mayo? Take a look at some of the highlights:
- Parade - It wouldn't be Cinco de Mayo without a parade! Join us on Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on South 24th Street. The parade will have floats, marching bands and many other parade entrants!
- Miss Latina Omaha Pageant - Who will be Miss Latina Omaha 2011? While the queen and the other finalists will be in the parade and at other events during the weekend, the coronation takes place on May 4th. The coronation will take place as part of a the Cinco de Mayo Excellence in Education Celebration - A Tribute to Dr. Jim Ramirez. The event, held at La Mesa Restaurant on Ft. Crook Road in Bellevue, is $35 per person and benefits the Mexican American Historical Society of the Midlands.
- 5K Run/Walk - Enjoy running or walking and want to engage in some friendly competition? Join us on Sunday, May 8th at 7:30 a.m.. There's a 1 mile kids run at 8:30 a.m. and the adult 5K Run/Walk at 9:00 a.m.!
- Finally, don't forget the Fiesta which is on May 7th & 8th (Saturday and Sunday) on South 24th Street and N Street. There will be live music, children's entertainment (called Kids' World), authentic Mexican Food, contests & games and vendor booths! The Fiesta runs from 12:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday!
