11.11.2011 / Mark your Calendars for A Christmas Carol and help the Food Bank for the Heartland.
It just is not Christmas without A Christmas Carol. Experience this Omaha favorite holiday tradition as Ebenezer Scrooge takes us on a life changing journey filled with beautiful costumes, exquisite music, perfectly crafted sets and special effects second to none. Perfect for the whole family!
An Omaha holiday tradition for 36 years, Scrooges life changing journey shows us it truly is much better to give than to receive. This year, we ask you to make giving a part of your holiday tradition.
Hunger affects more than 26,000 children in Douglas County and 92,000 across Nebraska. This holiday season, the Omaha Community Playhouse is partnering with Omaha Performing Arts, Omaha Symphony, Opera Omaha and ConAgra Foods to collect non-perishable food items for the Food Bank for the Heartland as part of the ConAgra Foods® Arts for the Holidays Celebration.
During November and December, drop off non-perishable food items at the Omaha Community Playhouse or other participating locations to help fight hunger. The top food items needed are
- Macaroni and cheese
- Peanut butter
- Canned tuna or chicken
- Canned fruit
- Canned vegetables
A Christmas Carol was created by the Omaha Community Playhouse staff in 1970. This production is so successful that it has been performed nation-wide by the Nebraska Theatre Caravan for more than 30 years.
The Christmas Carol runs November 18th through December 23rd with several performance dates and times. Visit www.omahaplayhouse.com for ticket information.
