02.23.2012 / Trek Up the Tower
Forty floors, hundreds of stairs and a stunning view. If it is February, it must be time for Trek Up the Tower! Held every year since 2006, Trek Up the Tower is a vertical stair climb race to the top of the home of First National, the First National Tower in downtown Omaha.
Trek Up the Tower brings together hundreds of racers who climb a total of 850 stairs in the First National Tower to raise money for the Wellness Council of the Midlands. The Wellness Council of the Midlands (WELCOM) was established in 1982 and promotes health and wellness throughout workplaces in the Omaha community.
While the race is for fun and charity, there are prizes with those who climb with speed. Cash awards will be given to the Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female finishers. Prizes will also be awarded to the Top 3 Male & Female finishers in each age bracket and a special “Masters” prize will be given to the Top Male & Female finishing times for climbers over the age of 40. The Team Champion Award will be given to the team with the best average time of their top 3 finishers!
This year’s race will be held on February 25th, but the race card is already full. If you want to join in the fun, registration for Trek Up the Tower 2013 will open on November 1, 2012. Mark your calendars now to register! For more information, visit www.trekupthetower.org.
