03.13.2012 / March Madness is coming to Omaha!
March means spring, but it also means March Madness. This year, March Madness is coming to Omaha on Friday, March 16th and Sunday, March 18th. We have a quick look at the games coming to Omaha on Friday:
• Kansas Jayhawks vs. the Detroit Titans: The Jayhawks are number 2 in the Midwest, and they meet the Detroit Titans (number 15) here in Omaha on Friday. Since Kansas is first in the Big 12, they’re the favorites in this round, and there’s speculation that they might make it all the way to the Final Four.
• St. Mary’s Gaels vs. Purdue Boilermakers: St. Mary’s, ranked 7th in the Midwest meets the 10th ranked Purdue here in Omaha on Friday. Because both teams are making repeat appearances and are so closely matched, this might be one of the biggest question marks of Friday’s games. The winner of this matchup will play the winner of the Kansas/Detroit matchup on Sunday.
• Missouri Tigers vs. Norfolk State: Missouri is ranked number 2 in the West, and that means they are positioned well against 15th ranked Norfolk State. Since this is Norfolk’s first time in the Big Dance, we – along with nearly everyone else – think that Missouri will win this matchup.
• Florida Gators vs. Virginia Cavaliers: Florida is ranked number 7 in the west, and they meet 10th ranked Virginia Cavaliers. Florida fans are no stranger to Omaha as their baseball team has frequently come to the College World Series in June. Florida’s got the better chance at this matchup, and the winner goes on to play the winner of the Norfolk vs. Missouri matchup on Sunday.
